What is CEREC?

What is a CEREC crown?

The crown itself looks no different than a traditional crown, the only difference is that we can design and fabricate the crown right here during your visit so you don’t have to come back to our office for multiple appointments. CEREC technology allows your Green Bay, WI, cosmetic dentist to take measurements of your teeth, create the tooth, fabricate it and place it in one visit.

How do same-day crowns work?

When you come in to get a crown, we will first perform an evaluation to determine whether or not CEREC crowns are the best way to go about restoring a tooth. If we deem you an ideal candidate the first step will be to take impressions of your smile. In order to do this, we will use a small camera, which can get into those little crevices and snap up-close and precise images in a way that traditional impressions never could. It only takes a couple minutes to take the images and then they are uploaded onto the computer.

Our computer software is pretty incredible because it allows us to make a 3D model of your tooth. From there, we can use the special CAD/CAM technology to design a crown that will provide the best fit. Once the crown has been designed it’s now time to make it.

We will choose the shade of porcelain that will most closely match your teeth and from there we will place the porcelain block into the milling station where it will chisel out your crown based on our specific measurements. During your downtime feel free to kickback and watch a movie on your smartphone or enjoy a good book. Once the crown is complete, we will check its fit before cementing it into place.
